UPDATE: Egg Recall Numbers

The egg recall list has expanded. Yesterday we reported on the egg recall issued by a company in Iowa.

The list of plants that carried the infected eggs has now expanded and eggs where also sold up until August 17th.

So if you have some eggs in your fridge than you may want to check. The eggs may have salmonella and are from the Wright County Egg company.

How to Check

At the end of the egg carton there is a stamp that begins with the letter "P" (which stands for plant).

If the number is P1720 or P1942 then look carefuly at the 3-digit number that follows.

If the 3-digit number is inbetween 13 and 229 than these are eggs that are being recalled.

The original recall includede plant numbers P1026 and P1413 which had 3 digit numbers from 136 to 225.

Wright County Egg was first recalling 228 million eggs and now is up to 380 million eggs.

A statement yesterday from the company said:

"Our primary concern is keeping Salmonella out of the food supply and away from consumers. As a precautionary measure, Wright County Egg also has decided to divert its existing inventory of shell eggs from the recalled plants to a breaker, where they will be pasteurized to kill any Salmonella bacteria present."
