James Jay Lee Dead – Discovery Channel Hostage Situation
James Jay Lee is the disturbed man that was captured today at the Discover Channel building where he held hostages.
UPDATE: James Jay Lee is DEAD after being shot by police at 4:48 PM ET.
In Silver Spring, Maryland, James Jay Lee held 3 hostages at the Discovery Channel building. But why does Lee have a grudge against Discovery TV?
Lee was arrested two years ago on March 2008 on disorderly conduct charges. He was arrested after throwing thousands of dollars in the air. The money came from the sales of his properties in Maui and to prove that money means nothing to him. James Jay Lee believes that humans are responsible for the deterioration of the Earth and that the Discovery Channel should focus more programs on this problem.
Fortunatly all the hostages are now safe and the gunman is in custody.
As for Lee, who mas moved by Al Gore's "An Inconvinient Truth", on his MySpace he states the following:
"I want Discovery Communications to broadcast on their channels to the world their new program lineup and I want proof they are doing so. I want the new shows started by asking the public for inventive solution ideas to save the planet and the remaining wildlife on it. Nothing is more important than saving ... the Lions, Tigers, Giraffes, Elephants, Froggies, Turtles, Apes, Raccoons, Beetles, Ants, Sharks, Bears, and, of course, the Squirrels. The humans? The planet does not need humans."
