Harvey Updyke Arrested for Poisoning Toomer’s Corner Trees
Harvey Almorn Updyke, 62, from Dadeville, Alabama, has been arrested for applying a lethal amount of herbicide to the Toomer’s Corner oak trees.
Updyke is being charged with criminal mischief for poisoning the 130 year old trees with Spike 80DF which is a herbicide commonly used to kill trees.
Aurburn University reports that trees will likely die because Updyke applied a lethal amount. Many believe that the criminal mischief is not enough, should Updyke be given a more severe punishment?
