Skippy Peanut Butter Recall 2011

A well known peanut butter brand, Skippy peanut butter, has issued a recall due to a possible Salmonella contamination.

The Skippy peanut butter recall affects products in retail stores in these states: Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Iowa, Maine, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Wisconsin.

Skippy released a press release saying:
Unilever United States, Inc. today announced a limited recall of Skippy® Reduced Fat Creamy Peanut Butter Spread and Skippy® Reduced Fat Super Chunk Peanut Butter Spread, because it may be contaminated with Salmonella, an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

Derrick Burts, HIV Positive Porn Star

Derrick Burts is speaking out, he is the porn actor that recently testing HIV positive as announced by AIM (Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation) in Sherman Oaks on October 8, 2010.

Burts is asking that condom use and better sex disease testing should be mandatory in porn. AIM had first claimed that Burts acquired the disease from a personal partner but he claims this is false saying, "There is no possible way. The only person I had sex with in my personal life was my girlfriend."

The Tylenol recall 2010 involves over 128,000 bottles of Tylenol 8 hour caplets (50 count) which are being recalled due to reports of moldy odors coming from the bottle.

The recall include bottles with Lot Number BCM155.

Johnson & Johnson said that the moldy odor is due to a small amount of 2,4,6-tribromoanisole which is a chemical used in fungicides.

The Brazilian Blowout Can Cause Cancer!

The popular Brazilian Blowout has been found to contain "formaldehyde" which can cause cancer.

The Occupational Safety & Health Administration found formaldehyde in the chemicals used for the Brazilian Blowout, a treatment that can cost up to $500. High levels of formaldehyde can be the cause of several types of cancer.

Brazilian Blowout is claiming that their products is formaldehyde-free. The Occupational Safety & Health Administration used a sample from a salon and not directly from the Brazilian Blowout company.

A salon in Oregon reported that clients had difficulty breathing, nosebleed and eye irritation after coming into contact with the chemicals used from the Brazilian Blowout.

Baby Formula Similac Recall 2010

An estimated 5 million contains of Similac infant formula is being recalled by drug maker Abbott Laboratories after worries that it may be contaminated with insect parts.

The voluntary recall affects Similac baby formulas sold in the U.S, Puerto Rico, Guam and a few of the Caribbean countries.

According to the company, the contamination may consist of a small beetle or larvae. If a child where to ingest this it could cause stomach aches and digestive problems.

The Similac Recall 2010 is only for the powdered formula. Liquid or any other type of products from Abbott Laboratories are not infected.

Gilenya Approved by USDA

Gilenya has been approved by the USDA (U.S Food and Drug Administration). The drug helps reduce relapses and delay disability progression in users who have relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis.

This is the first oral drug for multiple sclerosis. It is among a new class of drugs that work to block specific blood cells int he lymph nodes which in turn delays cells that go towards the brain and spinal cord.
